Our treasured clients came to us to help them design and craft a high-performance custom home that allowed for a genuinely comfortable, open-concept living experience – inside and outside – all on one floor as they begin to downsize and simplify their lives.
Upon entering the home, guests are welcomed into a tall inviting foyer with a charming view into the adjacent dining room. Stepping deeper into the home reveals a quite spacious sequence of spaces – a sitting room, bar, kitchen, and great room – each with natural light joyfully flooding in and each directly accessible to the enchanting exterior patios and rusticated natural landscape beyond. Entertaining with friends and family here is a real enjoyable treat. Enjoy a freshly poured draft pint at the distinctive half-circle bar with custom curved cabinetry; which is further anchored in the room by an accompanying semicircular RGBW illuminated cove overhead. And in the home’s expansive kitchen, prepare a special feast while chatting away with guests who are sitting at the custom integrated wood table with expertly dovetailed downturn ‘legs’. From there, adjourn to the great room with its cathedral ceiling and commanding stone fireplace to enjoy relaxing conversation or cuddle time together on those movie nights!
In addition to a spacious laundry and mud room, a dedicated walk-through pantry, a delightful powder room, and a light-filled study, the owners get to enjoy restful evenings in the sizable master suite complete with two walk-in closets, a gorgeous master bathroom with its custom shower, and a tranquil master bedroom and sitting room.
When their kids come back to visit, it is important to have dedicated space for each of them to relax and enjoy their own distinct restful areas. As a result, we designed two complementing bedroom suites joined by a common area atop the second floor open riser staircase. In the lower level, the home and site were designed to allow for a notable amount of natural light to flow in. In addition to providing a more enjoyable experience overall, the ‘English’ basement allows for an additional suite perfect for out-of-town guests. And since a treasure dear to owners’ hearts is raising adorable bunnies, we provided a dedicated Bunny Room that was specifically designed to withstand the rigors of potentially very destructive animals who roam and enjoy open playful spaces. Rounding out the lower level is a secondary family room and a prized office with an adjoined cigar lounge complete with its own ventilation system.
