EXTRAORDINARY MASTER SUITE OASIS

After being frustrated for quite a while by their somewhat small and inefficient space, our client decided to invest in a substantial interior remodel to help transform their master bedroom into a more luxurious master suite – an oasis for the homeowners to enjoy a restful evening in bed or cuddle on the couch while watching a romantic movie together.

To meet the needs and desires of our client, we essentially demoed the entire master area including the bedroom, the closets, the awkwardly-utilized bonus space over the garage, and most of the bathroom. After demolition, we altered the entire space to help deliver a more useful and more upscale environment for them to call home. Below are some of the notable features of the interior remodel:

• The original master bedroom was reconfigured to become the master sitting room to not only house a comfortable new seating area, entertainment area, and desk area, but also to act as a desirable entry room with an added buffer for the bedroom area.
• Some of the bonus space and all of the closets were reconfigured to house the new expansive bedroom area. To help add a more majestic feel, we raised the ceiling and incorporated an arch-top opening between the sitting area and bedroom area to help play off the new and sizable arch-top bank of windows (originally a single unit double-hung window) we installed in the outside wall beyond. Additionally, we installed stately lighting including a mini chandelier, matching wall sconces, and LED recessed lighting (all dimmable) to help elevate the overall impression and ambiance of the space.
• In the rest of the bonus area, we built a new and substantial walk-in closet to better accommodate all of the homeowners’ clothes.
• While the locations of the fixtures in the master bathroom stayed in the same general location, the entire space was gutted and completely rebuilt to better match their style and tastes. For example, new tile walls and floor were installed, a new more sophisticated dual vanity and countertop was installed, and an upscale shower enclosure was created complete with new tile walls and a custom one-piece, low-maintenance shower pan.

We truly enjoyed working with this client in helping to deliver a transformative remodel for the homeowners. And we were also happy to learn later that since the remodel has been complete, the master sitting room is not only enjoyed by mom and dad, but perhaps even more by their two young children – at times it has essentially become a second floor family room to be enjoyed together by all.
